ABOUT PAM

Pam and her dog, Odie

Pam has been in love with dogs since her father started bringing home strays he came across while working for the City of Toronto. At just 15 she started to develop her specialty of rehabilitating anxiety prone and aggressive canines. In 2010, Pam decided to take her 12 years of expertise and combine it with an education from Animal Behaviour College. After graduating with honours, she began to develop a behaviour modification training program based on positive reinforcement (ie. a toy/treat for desired behaviour). Her patience with tough canines is renowned. How successful are her methods? Pam has developed her programs through training her own dogs. All of Pams pups, both past and present, were rescues with behavioural issues who became an integral part of her business. Never one to back down from a challenging breed, Pam became a pet parent to some of the most difficult.

Bosco was Pams first experience with a true alpha dog. An extremely challenging Siberian Husky/Shepherd rescue puppy, Pam sacrificed a large dvd collection to his chewing! Bosco was the spark that ignited Pams dream of owning a dog training business. He was Pams beloved right hand from puppy to co-trainer. He was a teacher in his own right, guiding pups and continuously amazing his fans and trainer! Pam realized the results achieved from a dog after Bosco had worked with them, were faster and more efficient than any trainer could do on their own, creating the unique factor of Pam often having a canine co-worker by her side. From saying “I Love You” to teaching pups manners, Bosco was a gentle dog until he passed away from cancer at age 9.

Charlie Brown was a Miniature Beagle rescue Pam found while on a consult at the Mississauga Humane Society. Twenty pounds of terror, Charlie Brown was a feral street dog with severe fear based aggression rooted in zero trust with humans. Having been re-homed 3 times and on his last strike, Pam took him home. His behaviour was out of control – growling when approached, snarling and lunging at anyone who came close to him while he was eating. All the love, sweat and tears could not have made a difference without the patience, consistency and structure of Pams program. The hard work paid off! Charlie became a well adjusted and healthy part of the family, who was especially great with kids! Charlie passed away in 2019.

Pams current canine companion is a Boxer mix rescue named Odie. Odie came with enough energy to exhaust an entire sports team...of toddlers. His boundless spirit and acute stubborness was challenging, to say the least, but in the end was no match for Pam. His vitality is only matched by his love of humans and his desire to play fetch. Part of the family since 2016, Odie has come leaps and bounds (in some cases - literally!) since his adoption. You are likely to meet him at some point during your session experience with Pams Paws.
